Ce court-métrage est l’adaptation filmique d’un extrait de « L’homme qui rit », écrit par Victor Hugo.

Lors de la réunion des ministres, Gwynplaine, le visage caché, s’oppose à la loi qui permet d’augmenter la rente du prince en place. D’abord étonnée, l’assemblée l’écoute attentivement. Mais lorsqu’il retire son masque, il subit l’humiliation de tous.

During the minister’s meeting, Qwynplaine the hidden face disagree with the law which allows the prince to get a 1000 euors raise for his liveing. First astonished, the assembly listen to him with attention. But once the man took his mask off, he underwent humiliation by the assistance.
